Floating on a Cloud

18c9219f804c601e50433cb03ee064b5Did you ever lay on the grass as a child, gazing at the clouds whilst deciphering what animal or mythical creature you see? I remember it very well, and it always seemed as if time flew by before the magical creatures would disappear into another transformation floating away. That moment where time felt still, yet it moved incredibly fast. There are a few quotes from Steve Jobs, that always set my feet back on Earth when I feel low. We often live in a way that does not truly give us long lasting joy in our lives. He said during his life “My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.” It’s true that the things we love deeply do not cost anything (I would hope). These are true for love, happiness and laughter. We live in a society that is surrounded and controlled by things, yet if we truly cared, then we would aim to make a difference within the world.

Time is a blessing. No one can predict the future. We cannot predict if we will die today or if we will die at 100. Steve Jobs said that “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” I know all to well, there will be people within everyone’s lives who will voice their views at you like arrows. They will tell you how you ought to be and not what you want  to be. This quote also reminds us to live our lives to the fullest. There are people who live in the moment, live in the past and live in the future. But, if we never live in the moment, we will never be truly happy or satisfied in our lives.

This is something I have to remind myself to remember and be grateful for. We must live life as if we are floating on a cloud. It can be difficult, hard and almost seem impossible. But, at the end of our lives I am sure many people would agree, that they would of wished they had at least tried for the impossible to know that maybe, it wasn’t so impossible. A last encouraging quote by Steve Jobs I’d like to leave is

‘Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.’
